Network Marketing Success: Tips for Building Relationships in Internet Network Marketing

Network Marketing is a business of building relationships, whether you're using online or offline methods.  One of the biggest criticisms traditional Network Marketers have of Internet Network Marketers is that they don't build relationships.  Unfortunately, many times their criticism is true.  Rather than taking the time to build a relationship, some Internet Network Marketers try to get people to buy first.  If you're marketing online, set yourself apart by following these tips to build relationships, and you will be much more successful!

Be Yourself.  Building relationships is about connecting with people, and it's impossible to truly connect with someone when you're not yourself.  Many people think that in order to sell themselves as an expert, they have to present themselves as something they're not.  All that does is turn people off--nobody wants to associate with a phony person.

Instead, be genuine and sincere.  Let your personality come through in your communication on the internet.  I recently opted into a list because the author presented valuable information with humor.  It made him seem like a real person, and I was more interested in what he had to offer because of it.

Be Accessible.  If you want to form relationships with people on the internet, you need to be accessible.  Unfortunately, many Internet Network Marketers don't take the time to answer e-mails or return phone calls.  If someone contacts you for help or information and you don't have the courtesy to respond, do you think they're likely to buy from you or join your business opportunity in the future?  I doubt it!

There's a difference between being accessible and being desperate, though.  It's one thing to be willing to help, but it's another to make people feel like you are begging them to let you help them.  It makes them feel like you are desperately trying to sponsor people, which will make them run the other way.

Have Integrity.  Don't participate in the hype that exists in the Network Marketing industry.  Be honest and up front with people.  If you say you are giving away a free e-book that will teach me how to do XY and Z, make sure your e-book does just that.  Too many people over-promise and under-deliver.  By delivering exactly what you promise, you prove that people can trust you.  People want to build relationships with people they feel they can trust.  If you show that you are a person of integrity, you will build stronger (and consequently more profitable) relationships.
